Speicher-Rubin Women's Center for Equity and Diversity

Our Mission

The Speicher-Rubin Women鈥檚 Center for Equity and Diversity is a place where all students can find EASE 鈥 education, advocacy, support and empowerment 鈥 through gender-based violence prevention initiatives, anti-racism discussions, LGBTQIA+ inclusion training and other programs bringing all stories and experiences to the forefront. Our Center offers a safe, brave and inclusive space where historically under-served and traditionally excluded students are represented, affirmed and celebrated.

Programs & Initiatives

Our equity-based work spans over 50 years of unique programming and initiatives. Here, every student, regardless of identity, finds a home where they belong. Whether it is sponsoring events for Hispanic Heritage Month, Find Your Belonging, Domestic and Sexual 麻豆传媒 Awareness Months, Black History Month, Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Women鈥檚 Herstory Month, Lavender Graduation or facilitating the Gothic Knight Ally Safe Zone Training, Bystander Intervention Training, or Cultural Humility Training, we find joy ensuring that students are supported as they explore and develop their personal and professional identities. Our programming has also included campus-wide book discussions, a conversation on Eliminating Racial Disparities in Maternal and Infant Mortality with New 麻豆传媒鈥檚 First Lady Tammy Murphy, as well as access and resources that have taken students to the bell podium of the New York Stock Exchange, culturally based films and shows in New York City, and transformational leadership opportunities in Ghana, West Africa.

Legacy & Future

Building on our rich legacy, we continue to innovate and expand our efforts. We hope to honor our founders Dr. Barbara Rubin and the late Dr. Kathryn Speicher in all that we do.
